Last Land Rush
Genre: Science fiction
Author: George Bamber
Production number: 53
Production date: Thursday,
September 17, 1964
Director: Ted Bell
Plotline: In an overcrowded future, a desperate couple join a government contest for the last available plots of land - the median of a superhighway. It’s a brutal fight for survival, where contestants are forced to kill or be killed and even if they manage to win by holding onto their plot for 24 hours, they’ll come out the other side a shell of their former selves.
Cast: Dwight Weist, Sam Raskyn, Fran Carlon, Rosemary Rice, Cecil Roy, Wayne Tippit
Notes:
Episode opens with a spoken plot description rather than an opening scene with the series name; Foy is not heard until the beginning of the drama.
Bamber liked apocolyptic environmental storylines and his sole book The Sea is Boiling Hot (1971), is considered to be a readable entry in what some call "enviro-disaster porn" novels.
